What’s it all about?

Creative Homes for Creating Homes is a Wood Stove House and Tabor Community Services initiative focused on raising money and awareness for Tabor’s Home Fund. We’re working on a series of FOUR house concerts in the Lancaster, PA area in April, May, and June 2011 that will feature excellent, intimate live music performances in living rooms. Proceeds from these events will benefit the Home Fund.

TaborWhat is Tabor’s Home Fund?

Tabor’s Home Fund is a Tabor Community Services program that will establish a revolving fund which will be used to provide working capital to acquire, renovate, and sell residential properties. Blighted properties will be targeted for these projects. Proceeds from sales will provide new unrestricted revenue to support Tabor’s client programs services.Tabor’s Home Fund will also promote home ownership, increase the availability of affordable housing, and contribute to community revitalization. As a social enterprise initiative, Tabor’s Home Fund is rooted in Tabor’s historical mission and closely aligned with our current organizational capacities.

Why are we doing this?

We believe in celebrating creativity in homes and we want to help those who are struggling to be able to find and establish their own homes.

For years we have been blessed with a wonderful space in our home to host amazing touring musicians and offer our guests delightfully intimate concerts. Our guests have been very generous and supportive of our house concert series. But we don’t want to keep these special evenings all to ourselves; we would love to see more folks offer house concerts in the area!

So, we’re organizing four concerts, in four different homes to allow more people to experience live music in living rooms AND introduce these folks to the fantastic work being done by our friends at Tabor Community Services that helps families find their own housing!

Schedule

All concerts open the doors at 7pm with music starting at 8pm. A minimum suggested donation of $15 per seat will be collected at the concerts, but advanced reservations are required.

Update: each of these concerts was a huge success! Overall we raised $3,700 for Tabor’s Home Fund. Thanks to all of the musicians and concert attendees for helping Tabor Community Services reach it’s goal!!!
